From our earliest memories, most of us probably have some aversion to the idea of portable toilets. Used to convenient bathrooms in downtown Toronto homes or wherever we live, there are just some things about this type of commode that make our skin crawl. They smell, they fill up easily, and there is a marked lack of privacy are just a few of the things that leap to mind when I think about these places to make a pit stop.
Some people may have even worse things that they think about when the term portable toilet is brought up. Let's face it, unless they are quite well placed anyone inside is a bit vulnerable. It just takes a really strong wind, the kind not unknown to North York real estate owners, to make one quite nervous about the stability of a toilet. And then there is the constant fear that the local ne'er do wells will show up at the critical moment, tip you over, and leave you wallowing in your own and others' filth.
Well, those are a few negative ways of looking at portable toilets anyway. But the fact is that these set ups can be very handy and convenient in certain situations. Let's say you are at your kids' soccer tournament, the field miles away from any Windsor Ontario homes wherein you may feel like taking a bathroom break. Suddenly, you are struck by nature's call and you know you can't possibly resist it for the duration of the game. At those times, you might be very relieved (oh yes, we did make that pun) to find that there are portable toilets nearby.
Even so, there are a few little sanity and sanitary tips that you want to keep in mind when it comes to portable toilet usage. First, have a look around before you really commit to that throne. You wouldn't want to go to the bathroom at the townhouses for sale in Oakville which you looked at last week, without knowing that the owner kept them clean. It's no different with a portable toilet; stay out if there are signs of trouble!
Next, make sure that latch on the door works! There's nothing quite as awful as having someone walk in on you when you are in one of those little green shelters, and the locking latches do go quickly when the toilet is in heavy use.
Finally, remember that unlike homes on Yorkville real estate, no one can flush the end product in portable toilets conveniently away. Instead, trucks have to drain the toilets frequently. At big events, they can't seem to arrive fast enough. The closer the portable toilet you pick is to its clean out date, the better you will feel afterwards!
